FAQS

DOES MICROBLADING HURT?

Topical anesthetic cream and gel are used for numbing before and during your procedure. Pain levels for microblading vary from person to person, as with any procedure, and every effort is made to ensure you are comfortable for the duration of your appointment.

HOW LONG DOES MICROBLADING LAST?

Microblading is a semi-permanent procedure and will fade over time. Your brows may need to be refreshed every 8-12 months in order to keep lines crisp, otherwise they will fade after 1-2 years.

Shading may need to be refreshed every 1-2 years.

Frequency of sessions depends on a number of factors, including the color pigment used, lifestyle, and if any form of exfoliants come into contact with the treated area.

WHAT SHOULD I DO BEFORE MY PROCEDURE?

  • All clients MUST avoid any blood thinning medication for a minimum of 72 hours prior to their appointment. This includes Vitamin E, Aspirin, Niacin, and Ibuprofen

  • Do NOT consume ANY alcohol for at least 24 hours prior to your appointment. It is recommended to avoid caffeine as well

  • You may fill in your eyebrows as you normally would so I can take into consideration the shape you desire

  • If you have an ideal shape and color in mind, bring or send a few reference photos

  • If you regularly get your eyebrows shaped, waxed, threaded or tinted, please do so at least a week before your appointment

  • If you have been on prescription Accutane in the past, you MUST wait at least one year before considering this procedure.

It is highly recommended that you avoid sun tanning for 30 days before and after your procedure. if you show up to your appointment with a new tan or sunburn, you will need to reschedule and will forfeit your deposit. As your skin exfoliates from sunburn, it will take pigment with it.

WHAT WILL MY END RESULT LOOK LIKE?

Before your procedure, I analyze your natural hair color and customize pigment color accordingly to ensure that it blends well with your existing eyebrow and hair color. The end result pigment stays true to color and will only lighten over time. Your eyebrow will eventually look softer and have more of a "powdered" look. To keep lines "crisp" , a touchup is recommended every 6-8 months. Please keep in mind that results vary with each client!

WHAT IS SMP?

Scalp micro pigmentation (SMP) is a highly advanced method of cosmetic pigmentation. SMP is a highly technical, specialized process performed by trained technicians. These treatments are usually split over 3-5 separate sessions. During each session, micro needles are used to layer pigment dots on your scalp, placed in the dermal layer of your skin.

For bald clients, this creates the illusion of a full head of shaved hair. For thinning clients, it adds hair follicle-like dots to add density to cover up white spots on scalp.

WHAT TYPE OF SMP APPOINTMENT DO I NEED?

The type of SMP appointment you need will depend on how much hair you have.

Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is for clients who are completely bald. This treatment gives the illusion of a full head of shaved hair and is the best option for male and female clients who plan on keeping their hair short.

Scalp Micropigmentation Hair Density (SMP HD) is for clients who have thinning hair. This treatment adds hair follicle-like dots to white spots on scalp to give the illusion of a denser, fuller head of hair. This is the best option for male and female clients who have hair and plan on keeping their hair long.

Scalp Micropigmentation Scar Camouflage is for clients who have scars on their scalp from previously receiving hair transplants or accidents that want the spots to blend in with the rest of their hair.

DOES SMP HURT?

While most of my clients experience mild discomfort, the answer to this question will always vary per client. Typically clients are slightly more sensitive where nerve endings are more dense, however discomfort typically subsides as the session progresses.

SMP hurts less than a regular tattoo and much less than a hair transplant.

HOW LONG DOES SMP LAST AND HOW MUCH MAINTENANCE IS INVOLVED?

For the first 48 hours after your treatment, you should avoid activities that cause sweating of the scalp, as well as shampooing or washing your head.

In most cases, SMP treatments last 4-6 years before the patient may need to have a touchup done because of pigment fading.

HOW LONG IS RECOVERY?

There is no down time or recovery period after scalp micropigmentation treatments. Redness from your session should fade 4-8 hours after your appointment. Most clients return to work the next day. You may come back for your following session after 7 days.

HOW MUCH DOES SMP COST?

The cost of SMP depends on a variety of factors, including the type of procedure and the size of the area of the head that will need micropigmentation.

Cost ranges from $2500 - $5000 for SMP / SMP HD and $800 - $1500 for scar coverup treatments.
